yay i was in that batch!
i didnt stay for the comments by the judges, but some of the other instructors told me that this year, they are not looking for impressiveness or anything like that, but rather precision and prefection and more Ps and Ps, i can't remember which. Standards have gone up, and Mrs Tie is right that they are expecting pro level, like Anglican High standard, which is like ABRSM Grade 5 at least? So basically, can't be helped, because it's not possible to train for the kind of tone they want unless you forget about exams.
Anyway, some schools are thinking of closing down their guitar ensembles because of the drop in award level. I hope CJ doesn't.

the latest words i heard about it is that they want INTERNATIONAL STANDARD. that's damn difficult la.
and even hwa chong dropped. I think the last three syfs they had gold, now bronze.

ya right. they should go test syf from music schools la. not from JCs. since they want international standard.
